Apologies were received from Paul
Hughes, Kenny Hughes, Frank Bogle, Allan Boyd, Phil Bolland, Bob
Ellis, Paul Mackle, Jo Cant, and Dave Lonergan.
Chairman’s report
Gerard Donaghy presented his
report. Copies of the full report are available on request.
Matters covered included:
· A
review of the club’s activities in its first year
· The
committee, on behalf of all club members, recorded its
appreciation of Mr. Brian Quinn’s acceptance of the role as
honorary Club President
· The
first year, while producing many successes (e.g. the Lisbon and
Helsingborg trips) also reflected a steep learning curve for the
committee. Particular recognition must be given to the
individual contributions of Paul Hughes, who was the club’s
driving force from its inception, Oisin Daly, who provides a
welcoming venue at O’Neill’s and who has supplied superb
hospitality on match and other occasions, Tom McKinlay for his
organisational skills, and everyone on the committee and at the
club who helped in many ways to make the first year so
successful.
· Discussion
took place on the logistics of the club BBQ, scheduled for 24th
June, and responsibilities for various duties were accepted by
numerous members.

Treasurer’s Report
Ruairi Perry presented his report
and the accounts of the club for its first year. Matters covered
included the club’s financial position, use of profits, club
events, merchandising, banking, website costs, and anticipated
expenditure. It was decided that club funds should be maintained
at a minimum balance of at least £500, and that once this year’s
membership fees have been received, a review of club finances
should be undertaken with a view to retaining sufficient
reserves for operating expenses, administration, and
merchandising costs.
No firm decision was taken
regarding use of surplus funds after provision for the above
items, but no objection was raised to the suggestion that part
of the surplus could possibly be donated to our chosen
charities, Grove House and St Albans HCPT at the end of the
forthcoming financial year. The financial year for the Club will
run from June to May.
Membership fees
Membership fees were agreed at
the same levels as last year, £20 and £10 for concessions.
Merchandising
We are holding a sizeable stock
of club shirts and badges, and members should be encouraged to
find buyers for these items where possible. Further use should
also be made of the club’s website, and a separate “shop” page
is to be added in the near future.
Tom McKinlay is to proceed with
an order for 50 club scarves at a cost of just under £4 each.
These are to be provided without charge to members renewing
their membership this year. New members will still receive a
Club polo or t-shirt of their choosing.
Membership cards
Designs for club membership cards
were reviewed, and option 4 was approved. No costs will be borne
by the Club in their production as all materials and services
will be donated by members.
Celtic Supporters Association
(CSA) affiliation
£2 from each membership fee is to
be allocated to cover the cost of CSA membership. We will
evaluate the benefits of membership at the end of the coming
season.
Auditors
Jim Bennett has been in contact
with a qualified accountant who has agreed to accept the
appointment as club auditor. Further details to be provided by
Jim in due course.
Club trips / any other business
A club trip is being planned for
the friendly match between QPR and Celtic, and Tom McKinlay is
researching the feasibility of a trip to Bratislava to see Lubo
Moravcik in charge of the Slovakian under 17s team. Trips will
also be organised to forthcoming Champions’ League matches and
possible other occasions during the next year. We will also aim
to organise a Christmas function on the same scale as last
season’s successful event.
