Brian Quinn CBE Accepts Role as Honorary President of St Albans C.S.C.

NEW HONORARY PRESIDENT

It is with great pleasure that I can announce that the Chairman of Celtic Football Club, Mr Brian Quinn CBE, was asked if he would be the Honorary President of the St Albans Celtic Supporters Club at our 1st Annual Club Christmas Dinner on Sunday 3rd December 2006.

There was an Emergency Motion passed and club members voted unanimously in favour (with a roar that almost lifted the rafters off) to install Mr Quinn - who kindly accepted.

Mr Quinn was then presented with the club shield (originally a gift from Sean Perry at the Grove CSC) , show on the right, which will be updated to with an inscription to mark the occasion.

QUESTION AND ANSWER

Mr Quinn played a full role in the evening, attending the dinner with his wife Mrs Mary Quinn and taking questions from an open floor. We were told in the opening remarks that no subject matter was off limits and the members didn't hold back which made for a open, honest, interesting and informative session.

On top of this, Mr Quinn donated a raffle prize of a framed Celtic Celtic shirt signed by the squad who beat Manchester United in the Champions League (the shirt was won by Kenny McBrearty who left with a grin like a Cheshire cat). The proceeds of the raffle have gone a long way to stabilising the club's finances.

The genuine support and enthusiasm Mr Quinn has shown for a small club in its infancy was met with a wave of appreciation by the members and only goes to indicate what a worthy Honorary Chairman he will make.

It doesn't mean he won't continue to get asked difficult questions at St Albans CSC events but it does mean the club would like make clear their appreciation and respect for Mr Quinn's input and support.
