Meet the Members

The original idea of this page was to show the world and non-members that we are a normal bunch of people and a club worth joining.

Clearly, we've failed. However, here's a bit of detail about some of the members anyway. Check back regularly and we'll add the rest of the members as we get the pictures in.

Appearing randomly....................

Jimmy Johnstone.  But I wish I’d seen the goalscoring exploits of one James Edward McGrory.

Favourite Current Player

Stephen McManus.  I knew he’d be a Celtic Captain & he’ll be a successful one in the near future hopefully.

Favourite Celtic Moment

All of them!  Except when I realised that I wouldn’t be playing for them.  That was a bummer.  But ’67, 10 winning the league, Seville etc made up for it.

Jim Bennett

Favourite all time Celtic player

It has to be Henrik Larsson, just for the amount of times he scored when we
needed him to score and the way he always gave 100% regardless if we
were playing Barcelona or Berwick. Without doubt a true legend.

Favourite current Celtic player

Stephen McManus - A bit rough round the edges but wholehearted and has a
top habit of scoring important goals like the double against the jam
farts on new years day.

Favourite Celtic moment

Larsson's goal against Boavista in the UEFA cup semi final, Mainly for
what it meant to the club and fans to go and experience everything that
was Seville. Every time I see that goal it's like watching it in slow
motion - Happy days.

Henrik Larsson - Magnificent.

Favourite current Celtic player

Aiden McGeady, however, time will tell if he's to become a Celtic great.

Favourite Celtic moment

The trip to Seville was magical. Forget the result, the whole experience of being there was one great family party.

Denis Boyle

Favourite all time Celtic player

Tough one. In liviing memory it has to be Henky but McStay and Lubo can't be too far behind him.

Favourite current Celtic player

Aiden McGeady if he continues to shine.

Favourite Celtic moment

Demolition of the Huns in St Martin of Derry's first old firm game as manager. It was a long time coming. Other great moments include the Barca and Juve Champions League games. Hail! Hail!

Raymond Boyle

Favourite all time Celtic player

Henrik larsson. He could dance on the head of a pin, his balance around the ball is the best I have ever seen.

Favourite current Celtic player

Like Nakamura for his spirit. I am looking forward to seeing them on Tv in the champions league.

Favourite Celtic moment

Dixie Deans rolling over his wilkies after scoring against Hibs in the Dryborough Cup final,1973 I think.

Brendan Carbery

Favourite all time Celtic player

Paul McStay. He spent his entire career at Paradise despite numerous offers to join supposed 'bigger clubs'. A true Celt.

Favourite current Celtic player

Aiden McGeady. He has the ability to change a game and excite the crowd. He taught Ronaldinho how to do many of his tricks and opted to play for Ireland over Scotland.

Favourite Celtic moment

Waking up on a marble bench (no hotels or tent!) on the Seville main strip the day of the the UEFA Cup Final with great hope and expectation of getting a ticket and seeing the Celt's lift the trophy. I didn't get a ticket and we all know the result, but it was still great to witness the mass of green and white super heroes.

Not to sound like a broken record, but Henrik Larsson again. Although Lubo comes a close second.

Favourite current Celtic player

Aiden McGeady. He has weighed in with important goals and turned the game for us, most memorably in the second of the two games at Fir Park last season. He's scored 10 goals for the club so far and won the club's Young Player of the Year award for the last two year's running. Can take on anyone and has a promising future at club and international level. And still only 20!

Favourite Celtic moment

Being at Celtic Park for this year's SPL title-winning game against Hearts.

Henrik larsson. 242 goals in 315 games speaks for itself.

Shunsuke Nakamura. Probably the most skilful player in the SPL.

Seville. Showed the whole world that we are THE greatest fans in the world. The Celtic movement is about more than just football.

Kenny Hughes

Favourite all time Celtic player

Jimmy Johnstone, I was privileged to see him play with Blantyre Celtic, before he joined the Hoops, and watched him throughout his career with Celtic.  He deserved many more Caps

than he got.

Favourite current Celtic player

Shaun Maloney. I watched him develop through the youth ranks, and believe we have still to see the best of this young player.

Favourite Celtic moment

ALL OF THEM! (in my lifetime) 21 League Flags, 18 Scottish Cups, 13 League Cups, (including 7-1 against Rangers), St Mungo Cup, Coronation Cup, European Cup, that wonderful trip to Seville, and many other great European games, not forgetting Chelsea! Finally, joining St. Albans Celtic Supporters.  OVER AND OVER WE WILL FOLLOW YOU.

Paul Hughes

Favourite all time Celtic player

Henrik Larsson. We've had a lot of great players but none that held international respect as much as Larsson. The fact he could walk out of Celtic at the end of his career and straight into a Barcelona squad that was perhaps the greatest club team in the world at that time says it all.

Favourite current Celtic player

(Ex - Shaun Maloney). Now Big Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink. He' got all the technique and fitness you'd expect but he's a classic goal poacher and you always think he can score when he's in a decent position.

Favourite Celtic moment

Singing You'll Never Walk Alone at 3 am in a tapas bar in Seville the night before the UEFA Cup Final with a good chunk of my family and friends there. One of those moments that makes travelling to see the team worth while.

Kilian Kelly

Favourite all time Celtic player

I'd love to be different, but it has to be Henke.

Favourite current Celtic player

Sean Maloney, assuming he can manage to stay injury free for a few months!

Favourite Celtic moment

I think it has to be Hartson's goal at Anfield in 2003. I'd travelled down from Glasgow with no ticket and had resigned myself to watching it in the pub. Ended up getting a ticket about half an hour before kick off, and for the Celtic end too. There was such mayhem after that goal that my specs ended up in about 6 pieces, but it was all worth it!

It has to be McGeady at the minute, but Maloney's definitely one to watch.

Not sure I can pick just one - Lubo Moravcik or Henrik.  Both had the team spirit that some of the current team seem to be lacking.

Favourite current Celtic player

Wee Shaun.  He's got such potential.  He can only get better, here's hopin he will stay.

Favourite Celtic moment

Traveling to Stuttgart for the game in 2003.  Walking through the train station watching a store manager bringing out a pallets of beer only to have them emptied by the waiting army of Hoops.  Sitting in the square watching the sea of green and white enjoy the spring sunshine.  Oh and the game was good too from what I remember!!!

Paul Mackle

Favourite all time Celtic player

Well, its got to be Henke as he is the one who's memories live most in my short life. The performance he gave in Seville was truly amazing and I remember leaving the ground absolutely gutted for him. If it wasn't Henke then I'd have to go for Wayne Biggins.

Favourite current Celtic player

Paul Telfer?! Can't see past Aiden McGeady - needs to sharpen up a bit but on pure talent I don't think there's anyone at Celtic with more potential.

Favourite Celtic moment

Seville was brilliant but probably the treble in 2000/1 stands out as not a moment but the culmination of a great year. I was fortunate enough to go to the two cup finals and had a mad dash from Manchester to be at the game when we won the league, having just got back from holiday! To finish it all off we all went to Tommy Boyd's testimonial.

Kenny McBrearty

Favourite all time Celtic player

I know it's a cliché but it has to be Henrik Larsson simply because of the goals and for giving us hope in the UEFA cup final; what a player.

Favourite current Celtic player

Boruc – Ibrox – need I say more ?

Favourite Celtic moment

The are so many; Larsson's goal against Boavista to send us to the UEFA cup final was a great moment that I certainly wont forget, but for me, Harold Brattbakk's goal to seal the league and stop rangers 10-in-a-row has to be my favorite.

I feel like a bore for saying Henrik Larsson but who else could it really be, he doesn't even play for us anymore and his name still rings round the terraces in song.

Aiden McGeady, skillful, exciting, loves to run at people and can make things happen.  Give him a few years to mature and I really think he could be one of the greats.

Kissing the centre circle and pocketing some grass after we won the league and stopped the '10 in a row'. I still have the grass!

Of the players I’ve had the privilege to see, it has to be Jinky.  I missed him at his peak, but even in the team’s transition from Lisbon Lions to Quality Street Kids he was a one-off.

Favourite Current Player

Naka.  The one player in our squad with the vision and proven international quality.  The Holy Goalie is the only other player we have who would walk into another ‘good team’ but you can’t have a goalkeeper as your favourite player!

Favourite Celtic Moment

Watching 10 men win the league in the last game of the season in ’79.  I still remember the sickening feeling when they went one up early in the first half.  I was in the Celtic End watching 25,000 Ranger fans writhe like a bucket of worms before a fraction of a second later the blast of noise from their cheers hit home.  Horrible!  From that moment until the ecstasy of Murdo McLeod’s last-minute piledriver to make it 4-2, the match and the team had everything that makes you proud to be a Celtic fan.

Ruairi Perry

Favourite all time Celtic player

I know everyone says Henke but for me its not just for his fantastic goal record- his work rate was first class too, so many times his running and movement off the ball opened up space and led to a chance or a goal- its a part of a great striker that makes them great. When I think about it, I have never seen any Celt play with such composure and confidence in front of goal. Henke's chip against the huns in 6-2 demonstrated his talents as well as any of his best goals.  I was sitting in the Celtic end looking directly at him as he ran towards goal- that finish was world class.

Favourite current Celtic player

Em. tough one. nobody is setting the grass alight these days for me- we've lacked a world class player since Henke. Having said that we have bags of youthful talent coming through and much more in the pipeline.

Controversial one then- Lenny!
He does exactly what it says on the tin. Look at Lenny's ability to calm things down, keep the ball moving in midfield, cover when everyone else is rushing forward and most importantly break up the play. I was delighted when he signed for another year- we will miss his quiet influence in midfield- a real  under recognized asset

Favourite Celtic moment

Loads to chose from: first Old Firm 3-1 April 1987, 2-1 Scottish Cup semi 1988  against the Jambos and the Final- more last minute joy! The 6-2 game must rank highly on anyone's list given the psychological affect on the rest of the season. But i will say that stopping 10 in a row just shades it for me. I was n't even at the game!

Like thousands, I couldn't get a ticket, so i camped myself in the Hoops bar, with our ears glued to the radios behind the bar- our joy was confirmed with the teletext on the big screen flashing up 1-0 after 3 minutes. At the final whistle, me and my pal sprinted to Parkhead (a challenge after 8 pints of vitamin G). We joined the thousands locked outside, when a daft wee steward open one of the green metal gates and a dozen of us were lucky enough to dive in. Seconds later i was actually on the pitch, having dived across the corner kick flag- covered in white chalk i kissed the sweet turf- what a feeling!
