It
has to be Henrik Larsson, just for the amount of times he
scored when we
needed him to score and the way he always gave 100%
regardless if we
were playing Barcelona or Berwick. Without doubt a true
legend.
Favourite current Celtic

Stephen McManus - A bit rough round the edges but
wholehearted and has a
top habit of scoring important goals like the double against
the jam
farts on new years day.
Favourite Celtic moment
Larsson's goal against Boavista in the UEFA
cup semi final, Mainly for
what it meant to the club and fans to go and experience
everything that
was Seville. Every time I see that goal it's like watching
it in slow
motion - Happy days. |

get a ticket and we all know the result, but it was
still great to witness the mass of green and white super

Aiden McGeady. He has weighed in with
important
goals and turned the game for us, most memorably in
the second of the two games at Fir Park last season.
He's scored 10 goals for the club so far and won the club's
Young Player of the Year award for the last two year's
running. Can take on anyone and has a promising future
at club and international level. And still only 20!

Henrik Larsson. We've had a lot of great
players but none that held international respect as much
as Larsson. The fact he could walk out of Celtic at the
end of his career and straight into a Barcelona squad
that was perhaps the greatest club team in the world at
that time says it all.

(Ex - Shaun Maloney). Now Big Jan
Vennegoor of Hesselink. He' got all the technique and

you always think he can score when he's in a decent
position.

I think it has to be
Hartson's goal at Anfield in 2003. I'd travelled down
from Glasgow with no ticket and had resigned myself to
watching it in the pub. Ended up getting a ticket about
half an hour before kick off, and for the Celtic end
too. There was such mayhem after that goal that my specs
ended up in about 6 pieces, but it was all worth it!

Well, its got to be
Henke as he is the one who's memories live most in my
short life. The performance he gave in Seville was truly
amazing and I remember leaving the ground absolutely
gutted for him.
If it wasn't Henke then I'd have to go for Wayne Biggins.

Paul Telfer?! Can't see
past Aiden McGeady - needs to sharpen up a bit but on
pure talent I don't think there's anyone at Celtic with
more potential.
Favourite Celtic moment
Seville was brilliant
but probably the treble in 2000/1 stands out as not a
moment but the culmination of a great year. I was
fortunate enough to go to the two cup finals and had a
mad dash from Manchester to be at the game when we won
the league, having just got back from holiday! To finish it all off we
all went to Tommy Boyd's testimonial.

Of the players I’ve had the privilege to see, it has to
be Jinky. I missed him at his peak, but even in the
team’s transition from Lisbon Lions to Quality Street
Kids he was a one-off.
Favourite Current Player
Naka. The one player in our squad with the vision and
proven international quality. The Holy Goalie is the
only other player we have who would walk into another
‘good team’ but you can’t have a goalkeeper as your
favourite player!
Favourite Celtic Moment
Watching 10 men win the league in the last game of the
season in ’79. I still remember the sickening feeling
when they went one up early in the first half. I was in
the Celtic End watching 25,000 Ranger fans writhe like a
bucket of worms before a fraction of a second later the
blast of noise from their cheers hit home. Horrible!
From that moment until the ecstasy of Murdo McLeod’s
last-minute piledriver to make it 4-2, the match and the
team had everything that makes you proud to be a Celtic
fan. |

I know everyone says Henke but for me its
not just for his fantastic goal record- his work rate
was first class too, so many times his running and
movement off the ball opened up space and led to a
chance or a goal- its a part of a great striker that
makes them great. When I think about it, I have never
seen any Celt play with such composure and confidence in
front of goal. Henke's chip against the huns in 6-2
demonstrated his talents as well as any of his best
goals. I was sitting in the Celtic end looking directly
at him as he ran towards goal- that finish was world
class.
Favourite

Em. tough one. nobody is setting the
grass alight these days for me- we've lacked a world
class player since Henke. Having said that we have bags
of youthful talent coming through and much more in the
pipeline.
Controversial one then- Lenny!
He does exactly what it says on the tin. Look at Lenny's
ability to calm things down, keep the ball moving in
midfield, cover when everyone else is rushing forward
and most importantly break up the play. I was delighted
when he signed for another year- we will miss his quiet
influence in midfield- a real under recognized asset
Favourite Celtic moment
Loads to chose from: first Old Firm 3-1
April 1987, 2-1 Scottish Cup semi 1988 against the
Jambos and the Final- more last minute joy! The 6-2 game
must rank highly on anyone's list given the
psychological affect on the rest of the season. But i
will say that stopping 10 in a row just shades it for
me. I was n't even at the game!
Like thousands, I couldn't get a ticket,
so i camped myself in the Hoops bar, with our ears glued
to the radios behind the bar- our joy was confirmed with
the teletext on the big screen flashing up 1-0 after 3
minutes. At the final whistle, me and my pal sprinted to
Parkhead (a challenge after 8 pints of vitamin G). We
joined the thousands locked outside, when a daft wee
steward open one of the green metal gates and a dozen of
us were lucky enough to dive in. Seconds later i was
actually on the pitch, having dived across the corner
kick flag- covered in white chalk i kissed the sweet
turf- what a feeling! |
